POLICE CHIEF POSITION AVAILABLE

City of Lake City, IA (pop. 1731) is seeking candidates for Chief of Police. Police Chief is under the general direction and supervision of the City Administrator/Mayor of Lake City.

The Chief of Police is responsible for directing the activities and programs of the City of Lake City’s Police Department, including the utilization and coordination of personnel and equipment resources.

Salary is currently $32-$36 per hour DOQ. Lake City is also offering a $15,000 hiring bonus. Benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance paid 100% by City, plus long & short-term disability & life insurance. Paid vacation, sick leave, holidays & IPERS.

Lake City prefers candidates to have ILEA certification, at least 5 years’ experience in a public law enforcement agency and two years in a supervisory position and one year at a command level, possess a valid State of Iowa motor vehicle licenses and firearms permit. Pass a physical examination including drug tests. Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or and Associates Degree with acceptable job experience is desirable but not required. EOE/AA.
