"Everything but a Lake"

Hello, Welcome, Glad to see you!

Thank you for visiting Lake City, Iowa's website.  A community of approximately 1,700 population, we have just about everything you need in our little hamlet to live, work, shop and play.  Our town square is the central hub of our hometown life.  When sitting in our square on a sunny afternoon you can see how charming our town really is.  You see families of all ages strolling the streets and enjoying our town fountain, you see the many locally owned businesses situated conveniently around the square, you see our community owned theater where all seats are only $2, and most inviting of all, you see smiling and friendly people making eye contact and saying hello.

Lake City has a wonderful school system, an excellent hospital and clinic and an absolutely delightful hometown atmosphere to live in safety with a low cost of living.  Lake City really does have it all...except a lake. And don’t forget to check out our community calendar, there is always something going on in Lake City! Some of our top events include: Fall Festival & the Dell Blair Memorial Chili Cook-Off, the Christmas Festival, Jazz in the Park, and our Annual Western Days Celebration in late June complete with a 2 night rodeo!

This website is a collaboration of the City of Lake City and the Lake City Betterment Association. We have worked hard to provide needed and easily accessible information for the local resident, visitors and of course new residents! We encourage you to check out all it has to offer. If you have any questions at all about our website or community please visit our contact page and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
