2013 DRINKING WATER WEEK: MAY 5 – MAY 11

New Betterment Coordinator Hired
Leah Rosado is a rural community promoter who grew up and lives in the area. She is married with two children. She graduated High School from Prairie Valley in Gowrie and attended Buena Vista University, completing her student teaching at South Central Calhoun in Lake City. Rosado also has taught a parenting class in Rockwell City for the past four years and conducts for First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge . “This is a beautiful town and I am looking forward to promoting small business and small town living in Lake City!”
Lake City Visioning Committee Seeks Local Input
As previously announced, Lake City is currently participating in the Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program. Volunteers are being sought for participation in the Special Places Mapping/Visual Quality Assessment phase. Sessions are scheduled for late afternoon and early evening on Wednesday, April 24. Due to limited space, all participants must be pre-registered. Please contact city hall at 464-3111 to reserve a spot and take advantage of the opportunity to provide input in the visioning process.
Lake City Participates in “Iowa”s Living Roadways” Community Visioning Program
Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning program obtains public input from a variety of sources, including five focus groups which were held on Saturday. These groups identified transportation and recreation assets and barriers within the community. The results of the focus groups can be found at http://129.186.142.145/communitymapping/visioning/map/index.php. Select “Lake City” and “Focus Group”.
Further public sessions will be held in the future and residents can offer input through an online survey at http://129.186.142.145/visioningSurvey/survey1.php, or pick up a paper copy at city hall to complete.

Position Available: POLICE OFFICER The City of Lake City (population 1,727) is accepting applications until 4:00 pm, Friday, February 15, 2013 for the position of Full Time Police Officer. Applicants must meet all minimum requirements as set by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. ILEA certification preferred but not required. Lateral transfers accepted. To illustrate the community’s need for grant funds to help with the rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing units in Lake City, interested homeowners are encouraged to complete the simple pre-application form available at local businesses, including City Hall, and at the following link: Housing Rehab Pre-Application.
